Minutes of March 23, 1833
After investigating prices of available properties, Ezra Thayer and Joseph Coe are ordained church agents to negotiate purchase of three farms.

Description A council of High Priests & Elders assembled in the school room at 9 oclock agreeable to previous arangments. A council had been called to appoint a committee to purchase land in Kirtland, "upon which the saints might build a stake of Zion." TS 5, no. 23 (Dec. 15, 1844): 737–738,

Committee to get land prices Council appoint Joseph Coe and Moses Dailey to ascertain the asking price of the Elijah Smith and "Mr. Morley" farms, and Ezra Thayer the price of Peter French farm.
Fast and pray … and the council continue[d] in prayer and fasting for the ultimate success of their mission
Available farms

After three hours, the agents return and report:
Elijah Smith: $4,000
Mr. Morley: $2,100
Peter French: $5,000

 
Arrange purchase The council votes for Ezra Thayer and Joseph Coe to "superintend the purchasing of said farms and to have the prayer of the brethren and that they should be ordained to that office accordingly Sidney Rigdon ordained them as general agents to be set apart." [19] to act as such in this eastern branch of the Church."
