Beautiful in the placid
grayness of its salt-laden waters, Utah's great inland sea rocks gently
under summer skies. Silhouetted against the western skyline, rise majestically
the snow-capped peaks of the Oquirrh Mountains, guarding the sunset shore
of Great Salt Lake. Here, almost at the southern extremity of this world-famous
body of water, resting on the very bosom of the gigantic lake itself, is
Saltair, the immense pleasure resort by a hundreds of thousands of tourists
annually. The great pavilion of Moorish design rests on myriad piles driven
deep into the lake. In this pavilion is the largest and finest dancing floor
in the world, surrounded by a multitude of amusement devices. |
