Council of February 10, 1838

High council and bishopric of Zion cancel authority of Oliver Cowdery, W. W. Phelps, and John Whitmer to sign and record licenses. Appoint Apostle Thomas B. Marsh and David B. Marsh "Presidents, pro. tempor. of the Church of Latter Day Saints in Missouri" or until Joseph and Sidney arrive. They are temporarily authorized to sign and record licenses.

Spelling of names has been standardized.

Revoke authority of Oliver Cowdery, W. W. Phelps, and John Whitmer to sign licenses Vote that Oliver Cowdery, W. W. Phelps, and John Whitmer "stand no longer as Chairman & Clerk, to sign and record liceces."
Thomas B. Marsh and David W. Patten to replace them and act as presidents of the church in Zion until Joseph arrives Vote Thomas B. Marsh and David W. Patten be "Presidents, pro. tempor. of the Church of Latter Day Saints in Missouri, or until Presidents Joseph Smith jr and Sidney Rigdon arrives in the Land of Zion."
Authorize Thomas and David to record and sign licenses "for the time being."
