Managing Zion Expectations, May 1837 Would-be immigrants to Far West not to expect a perfect society. Swindlers are abroad promising high rates of return and blessings of the Lord. Reform is needed, but that should not dissuade the honest from their faith.
Thomas B. Marsh to Wilford Woodruff In Joseph's absence, Warren Parrish, three apostles, and a member of the high council tried to seize control of the church. When Joseph returns from Canada, they publicly renounced the church. William Parrish became a deist.
