Minutes of August 24, 1835
Jonathan Stevens and sons Uzziel and Lyman, and son-in-law John E. Page to move their families to Kirtland, then serve "go forth to preach the gospel." John and Joseph Tippits should go to Missouri in the fall to purchase land for the Essex, New York branch.

Ordain Jonathan Stevens   Council decides to ordain Jonathan Stevens an elder. He and his sons Uzziel and Lyman, and son-in-law John E. Page are to move their families to Kirtland, then "go forth to preach the gospel." Sidney Rigdon ordains Brother Stevens.  
Tippits to buy land for Essex Co. church   Council decides that J. H. and J. W. Tippits should "go to Missouri this fall to purchase land for the Church in Essex, N.Y. according to previous appointment by the voice of said Church." This is over a year after the brothers arrive in Kirtland and are advised to wait. Minutes of November 28, 1834
