Alpheus Cutler, Asa Lyman, and Reynolds Cahoon arguing   To the president of the High council of the church of Latter Day Saints in Kirtland. Brother, it having come to my knowledge that there is a difficulty existing between brethren, (Viz.) Alpheus Cutler, Asa Lyman & Reynolds Cahoon, which is injurious to the cause of truth among us. I have made an exertion to reconcile them to each other, but to no effect. I therefore lay the case before the council for decision.
Substitute counselor   Sylvester Smith, "one of the Presidents of the Seventy," substitutes for complainant John Smith on the council.
6 counselors as speakers   Sylvester Smith, Oliver Cowdery, Jared Carter, Hyrum Smith, Orson Hyde, and Joseph Smith Sr. are chosen as the six counselors to speak, this being deemed a difficult case.
Speakers   John Smith: this is such a complicated matter that he cannot charge any of of the brethren.
