Sidney not to move to New Portage By request, brother A. Palmer reviews previous conference, in which "[t]he case [27] of Bro. Sidney Rigdon was taken into consideration whether he should remove from Kirtland to New Portage or not; it was decided that he should not move." "It had been suggested that Elder Rigdon might remove from Kirtland to New Portage, but after listening to the proceedings of a previous conference, in Portage, from Brothers Palmer and Boswirth, it was decided that Elder Rigdon should not remove and that the brethren in New Portage should should assist, all in their Power to build the Lord's house in Kirtland; and tht the brethren erect only a tempora[r]y or cheap place for meeting in Portage, as that was not to be established as a stake at present, and that course would enable them to do more for the house in Kirtland." , 424.
Concentrate on House of the Lord in Kirtland Consider progress of the House of the Lord in Kirtland and decide:
that the brethren in this place Should assist in Erecting the house all that is in their power, that the Elders of the Church may be endowed with power from on high according to the promise of God, that the work of the father may roll forth.
Temporary meetinghouse in New Portage It was also advised that the brethren in this place, build a temporary house to meet in for the present, knowing that a Stak[e] of Zion will not be established in this place at present, and by building a church house in this place, the brethren can be able to do more towards building the house in Kirtland.
